Cracker Barrel Welcomes... Friends & Family!

This past Wednesday evening, I headed off to Cracker Barrel... I was lucky enough to be invited by an employee to their "Friends & Family" event, and was also told I could bring along a friend!

We not only received a 45% discount off our selections from the Old Country Store, but on our meal too.  Now, this was in addition to any other sales promotion that was in place... For example, I purchased 4 large jar Woodwick Candles~ all for $39.57!  They were buy 1, get 1 for 50% off.  Since I purchased 4 candles, this gave me 1 free and the others were $13.19 each.  I got some of my favorite scents along with a few new ones to try... Fireside, Applewood, Cider and Redwood. Love these candles with their "wood" wicks that crackle when they are lit.  I hope the recipients enjoy them as much as we do...

Cracker Barrel

It was a little overwelming... If I get invited back next year, I will go window shop a few days before so that I can map out my plan.

One of my purchases was a gift for Mr. SS... It was a case of Vintage Soda that includes Dad's Rootbear, Bubble Up, Nesbitt's Orange and NuGrape.  He will LOVE this!

Old 52 General Store

Also loaded up on Burt's Bee's lip balms for stocking stuffers, a dark grey heathered tee with black satin Christmas trees with tiny rhinestone lights, I plan to wear under a black puffer vest and the cutest set of 3 tealight holders in silver, gold & bronzed glitter with clear rhinestone snowflakes on the front (wished I had picked up more of those).

A wonderful evening that was finished off with a nice dinner and coffee afterwards... Tis the Season to enjoy company of Friends & Family (and of course, more shopping)!!!

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend (and Shopping)!!!

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!  Also, I hope you all had a little (or alot) of "happy shopping" during the busiest shopping time of the year... whether you went out during Thanksgiving day itself, braved the early morning crowds on Black Friday or are planning on staying up past midnight tonight (or calling off work tomorrow) for Cyber Monday!

Well, I didn't go out to the stores on Thursday, didn't head to the mall on Friday and will faithfully show up to work tomorrow morning- However, I have spent all weekend surfing the net for deals!

This is the first year that I have most of my Christmas shopping done this early... Here are a few deals I got over the weekend~

KMart

I ordered these towels from http://www.kmart.com/.  They are by Country Living and I spotted them in the store a few months ago.... Loved them in Bone for our master bathroom.  They are on sale for 20% off online- Bath Sheets-$10.39, Bath Towels-$7.99, Hand Towels-$6.39 and Washclothes-$5.59.  I also had a coupon code (KMART5OFF50) for $5 off a $50 order and shipping was free with a $29 online order.  Merry Christmas to Mr. Shannonshoppe & myself!;)

Target

I ordered these 2 Martini Tufted Ottomans from www.target.com .  They are for my oldest, who is in a dorm room and wanted ottomans to use not only as footrests in front of her futon (under her lofted bed) but also used together as a "coffee table" to set a plate on while she's eating and watching tv at the same time.  Well.... I also thought it would be nice to use these as seating along with this cute little pedestal table, also from Target.com ~

Target

She is in a single dorm room with a nice view from the window.... Thought this would be nice to sit at with a cup of hot tea while gazing out at passing students below...

AND
If it doesn't work... I can always keep it for our living room.  It would also look nice with our black Attic Heirloom armoire and glassed door bookcase by Broyhill.

Deals @ Target were that I had a coupon for 10% off an online order plus there was an additional 15% off a furniture purchase of $125 or more.  I also got FREE SHIPPING!

Shopping for my husband now... LOVE the layered looks of the "crew"!  He will enjoy the comfy, coziness of their soft tees & sweatshirts... Here are a few things he has coming his way... Good thing he doesn't read my blog (or at least, I hope not)!  By the way, all were on sale plus an additional 20% off w/coupon code (EXTRA20) and Free Shipping with a $150 order.

JCrew

Where, Oh Where, Has October Gone?!

I LOVE Fall!  It is definately my favorite season, but it's just too short... Where has the month gone???  October has just blew by...

What have you all been doing this month?

Since I haven't blogged since October 1st, I thought I would tell you what I've been up to...

The first weekend our family attended a Civil War Reinactment, where we filled our tummies with lots of good food from that period~ Indian bread, kettle corn, ham-n-beans w/cornbread, meatpies and homemade rootbeer... YUM!  And, since this is mainly a blog about my shopping escapades... I bought my Red Egyptian Musk oil that I wear as my signature scent from Past Tyme Perfumerie, who had a booth at the event.  Now, Michael, by Michael Kors is my absolute favorite perfume~ but these days I'd much rather spend $5 on my musk, than $60+ on the perfume!!

Over the same weekend, I also fit in a little thrift store shopping with a friend... While we were out of town watching our sons play in a soccer game, we also went to "Our Father's House", in Warsaw, IN.  I purchased this vintage wood (I know, it looks like wicker!) little shelf stand... My oldest daughter, who is in college, needed something like this for her bathroom, to hold bath towels, etc.  Isn't it the sweetest?

The second week, I missed 3.5 days of work... Yes, I survived H1N1!  I was sick from Friday until Wednesday of the following week~ was never officially diagnosed, but our community has been hit hard with it and I haven't been that sick in a very long time~ if ever?

Last week...

On Tuesday, my son got his braces off!  He looks so grown up... 16 yrs old and a few weeks... Again, where has the time gone?

On Thursday, our family started out on a road trip to The Smokey Mountains in Gatlinburg, TN... One of our favorite places on Earth!  We were out of school for Fall Break and boy, did we need a break...

A little time away~ A little time to put our feet up~ A little time to spend as a Family!

Even our Corgi, Tegan, needed a little time to relax...

Of course, shopping can be a form of relaxation... So, while there, we did some outlet shopping in Pigeon Forge.  I picked up a cozy, sherpa lined, zip-up hoodie from J.Crew in a toast color~ LOVE IT!  Also, bought a couple of sweat outfits from the Nike Store... I'll be ready for my work-outs when they move into the gym, now that the weather is getting cooler.

On Saturday, we headed over the mountains to North Carolina~ BEAUTIFUL drive!  Fall Foilage at it's finest!!!  Right outside of Cherokee, on your way to Maggie Valley, there is a store called Bearmeat's Indian Den.  I always buy aromatherapy oils from this place... This time I picked up Rosemary and Cedarwood essential oil.

During our time in Gatlinburg, we stayed in a condo @ Westgate Resort... We have friends who own a time share there.  Normally, I use Priceline or HotWire for hotel deals when we travel, but our friends gave us a coupon certificate to stay at this resort.  We stayed at this fabulous property (with unbelievable views!) in a 1 bedroom condo with a sofa sleeper (in the leather sectional in the living area) for $179 for 4 days/3 nights!  This was the BEST deal of the trip!!

Since we stayed at the condo and had a full kitchen, we were able to save $$$ by making some of our meals at our "home away from home"... I made breakfast every morning and dear hubby made dinner one night.  The other nights, we went out to dinner at 2 of our favorite restaurants in Gatlinburg, The Peddler and Best Italian... If you ever travel to Gatlinburg, these are must tries!

Well, only 1 week left... I plan to find some time to blog more often, finish the bookshelf that was featured in my "1st Blog" and list more items on both Etsy & Ebay!  All the while, I want to savor the colors of the season, enjoy more pumpkin cookies, pumpkin pancakes and pumpkin milkshakes, enhale the scents of my Autumn candles and  take it all in as long as Fall lasts... I hope you do the same... Happy Halloween!!

Beadboard Bookcase Project!!

This will be my first "blog" project and I didn't even have to shop for this one.... It sort of fell into my lap!

A few weeks ago, while at work, I happened to find our custodian wheeling out this piece on a cart.... He was getting rid of it and wondered if I would be interested in it? He told me if I cleaned it up real good, it would be great for storing things in the garage! It had been used for storing cleaners, etc in his office, so it did need a good cleaning, he said.

Well, I was looking at this cabinet from the back, but as soon as I took a look at the front~ WOW! Of course, I said "sure"!!! It is covered in a few layers of paint- the top being vintage sage green with a cream under that.... I also can detect a little bit of green & grey paint on the bottom molding.

I believe it came from an old school that was torn down many years ago.... So, for me, this just adds to the nostalgia of the bookcase.... See the initials carved into the side? How sweet!

In the next few days, as I find the time (we only have 8 soccer games this week), I plan on working on this project. So far, I have cleaned it with TSP and scraped and sanded it down.... I purchased a primer called Gripper Grey by Glidden from Home Depot, where they added some black, as I plan to paint the bookcase black and put it, NOT in my garage, but in my living room....
Please stay tuned for the finished product....
